‘Digital Revolutionary’ to advise Journal Register Company

A traditional “print” media company being advised by Jay Rosen, Jeff Jarvis, Betsy Morgan and now Emily Bell. Amazing.

Yardley, Pennsylvania – Journal Register Company, a leading multi-media company in local news and information, announced today the appointment of Emily Bell, Director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University, to the Company’s Advisory Board.

Bell, considered a digital revolutionary for her role in the development and leadership of digital content at The Guardian in the UK, is one of the world’s foremost authorities on news and information on the Internet. Bell, who spent 18 years as a journalist and executive at The Observer and The Guardian in London, recently was named the founding director of the newly-formed Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University.

“Very few news media executives have thought as deeply and experimented as widely in the Digital world as Emily. She will be an exciting and strong addition to our Advisory Board and help us navigate our Company’s digital future,” said John Paton, Chief Executive Officer of Journal Register Company.

Bell is the latest member to join the Company’s Advisory Board which includes: Jeff Jarvis, Associate Professor and Director of the Interactive Journalism Program at the City University of New York’s Graduate School of Journalism and author of What Would Google Do?; Jay Rosen, PhD, a professor and former chair of the journalism program at New York University and member of the Advisory Board of Wikipedia; and Betsy Morgan, former CEO of the Huffington Post and previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of http://www.CBSNews.com. Morgan is currently a member of the national advisory board of the Poynter Institute.
